Induction ready Cookware
Induction ready cookware is a type of cookware that involves the use of ferromagnetic materials. These ferromagnetic materials may contain iron or any material with magnetic properties in it.
A good example of induction-ready cookware is cookware made of cast iron. Since induction cooking requires electromagnetic energy to cook food, cast iron is a good example of a material that will succeed in this process.
Another example of induction-ready cookware is cookware made from stainless steel. Although this material is good for induction, there are some exceptions to this type of cookware.
Some types of cookware are made of aluminum and stainless steel. Because of this, it will not be able to use the induction cooker because the aluminum will block the electric field. Other examples of metals that can block the electric field when combined with stainless steel are metals with high nickel content.
Here is an interesting fact on induction-ready cookware that you need to know. If you have an induction cooker, a gas stove, and an electric stove, you may use your induction-ready cookware with all of them. Unlike regular cookware, they will not be compatible with the induction cooker or the electric stove. It is more efficient to have induction-ready cookware because of this fact.
How to test if Cookware is Induction ready
In order for you to know if your cookware is induction ready, you need to remember the following things.
- You need to have a magnet with you when trying to test and purchase induction-ready cookware.
- When you have selected cookware, you need to turn the pot on its base.
- Use your magnet and check if it sticks to the bottom of the cookware.
- If the magnet sticks to it, then it is induction compatible.
- If the magnet does not stick to it, then it is just ordinary cookware.
Take note that many manufacturers these days are now putting up an “induction compatible” sticker on their packaging or placing a symbol under the cookware. This symbol looks like an induction coil.
